COACHES COLUMN: A Message from Head Coach Matt

Hi everyone,
We have a packed update for you this month, full of junior success, new ways to play, and some exciting changes to our schedule!

Junior Success at Stony Stratford

A massive well done to Zara and Zain for taking 1st and 2nd place in the Stony Stratford Green Ball starter tournament!
It is fantastic to see our juniors taking the skills they practice every week in lessons and successfully transferring them into a competitive matchplay environment. Brilliant job, both of you!

Holiday Camps: Easter Success & Summer Planning
Our Easter Holiday Camps were a huge success—thank you to everyone who joined us! We are already looking forward to more fun on court. Bookings will be opening soon for the May halfterm and our flagship Summer Holidays camps (available for all children aged 5–14).

Sunday Schedule Update: Sunday Funday!

We are changing the format for our Sunday 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM junior class. Moving forward, this session will become Sunday Funday Matchplay and Games! It’s all about point-play, fun challenges, and tactical tips from Coach Gavin.

Welcome to the Team

Please give a warm welcome to Coach Matt, who will be joining the team this upcoming halfterm. He will be shadowing me (Head Coach Matt) on court as he finalizes his LTA Level 2 qualification.

Good Luck!

Finally, the exam season is upon us. We want to wish the absolute best of luck to all of our junior students sitting their GCSE and A-Level exams over the coming weeks. You’ve got this!

Pro Tip: “The 0-4 Shot Window”

Did you know that the vast majority of tennis points—even at the professional level—are decided within the first four shots? (Serve, return, and the next two hits).

The Tip:

Next time you practise, focus heavily on the quality of your first two shots. Don’t just “get the serve in”

See you on the courts!
Matt Evans
